Me Dave The Ruf hitting my targets
I started my label in 1993 in an era when British Hip Hop was in the doldrums and worked hard to get our music out there. My key aliases are :
JEEP BEAT COLLECTIVE
I produced great beefy interesting instrumentals that took in cut and paste / scratch hip hop / electro / trip hop / breakbeat across a series of collectable 12″s and 5 LP’s 1995’s “attack of the wildstyle beatfreaks” (staggering debut – played by John Peel and more), 1997’s “repossessed wildstyles” (collecting all the early rare tracks licensed to many compilations), 1998’s “for Jimi Hendrix” (voted album of the month on hendrix’s fans website, 1999’s awesome debut US anthology on the US BOMB “technics chainstore massacre”, 2001’s september 11th predicting “death race 2001″ and finally a megamix mini LP “return to the classics”. I hope to release a new Jeep Beat record in the next year.
MINDBOMB
Mindbomb is my vocal hip hop outfit where I produce infectious beats and music that allow me to rock some funky, deep and entertaining lyrics with unique ruf style. I produced a stream of 12″‘s, EP’s and LP’s which include 1995’s “tripping thru the minefield – volume 1″ 1996’s “tripping thru the minefield – volume 2″ and my favourite 1998’s “great british beef”. The last Mindbomb release was “new life / record shoppin'” in 2001. Through the noughties I performed the rhymes at many gigs, raves and festivals as RUFMOUTH and recorded with my drum music buddy SINE although these tracks remain unreleased.
GODFATHER OF WEIRD
My strange wayward freaky imaginary soundtrack alter ego.
Only released a 12″ to date “theme from weird / lazy days” but I have an album of unreleased tracks from 2003 and new ideas to have a fiddle with.
I released the cream of the UK hip hop underground on the Ruf Diamonds (Volumes 1 and 2 )and Thermonuclear Soundwars compilations.
The full current discography is shown in distribution / export – you can cross reference the list with discogs.
